The unusual incident in the Suez canal was caused by strong seasonal winds blowing the huge 20,000 TEU containership MV Ever Given off course and blocking this trade route for some time. The delays associated is expected to impact on trades between Europe and the middle east and far east with many large container ships are currently moored nearby pending the recovery of the affected vessel. This means delays in arrivals of goods imported as well as potential delays for imminent exports since vessels are now out of rotation and backlogged freight will mount up. None of EwePack customers are believed to be affected at this time, however. We will monitor the situation and make any alternative arrangements as required.
